The anthology was Started and envisioned by Kenyatta Powers-Rucker, who noticed a lack of representation of women in the tech industry. In an interview, she once said that she needs for a book that could show young girls and women that they can succeed in tech and that there are already many women who have paved the way for ladies to be in tech industry.
The book features stories from women who have worked in various roles within the tech industry, from software engineers to venture capitalists. Each chapter is a personal account of the author's experience and journey in the tech world, with insights and advice for others who may be interested in pursuing a career in tech.
As we all know SMMCOC’s President/CEO Pamela Minor and Executive Director Doris J. Cammack-Spencer, are two of the co-authors. All of their co-authors wanted to discuss the importance of diversity in the tech industry and the need for more women and people of color to be represented.
